Grief is a profound & sacred emotion, one that our fast-paced & capitalist society does not make space for gathering to honor this feeling. Grief is a multifaceted portal, that exists when one is “in-between worlds” as there is a release or loss for something that holds a lot of significance & meaning. This can look like separation from our homeland, culture, or familiars, breaking up with beloved(s), death of a loved one, feeling the impacts of collective trauma, war, genocide, displacement, and ecological grief.

While there is no remedy for grief, the earth & plant kin support to make space for the emotions to flow through us for healing, movement, and transformation. We do not want to suppress our emotions & discomfort, but rather, bring ourselves back into relationship with our bodies & heart to feel held. Gentle Release (grief support tincture) lessens tension in the respiratory, opening up airways for ease of breath and expression, fortifies the heart, rekindles softness, joy, and warmth, and supports the rivers within our bodies to gently move (i.e. lymphatic system).

:: This is a fall edition of a well-beloved & highly requested grief support tincture I’ve offered in the past. For example, instead of the Hawthorn flowers, we work with their berries, and instead of cleavers, we work with bright calendula.

Perfect for surrendering to let go of expectations, and control, as this season reminds us that connecting with our emotions is a radical act. May we feel the waves of grief and potential transformation, this is the season for shedding and re-aligning with ourselves. May we trust & allow ourselves to be transformed by grief, together.

✧ Mullein is a mighty guardian of disturbed soil (Earth + Water), our connection to joy and breath. Mullein has an affinity to work with the lungs, clears excess phlegm, reduces inflammation and infections (gentle demulcent), and opens the respiratory pathways to help us to breathe deeper with ease. Reduces tension and brings softness, helpful for those that may overwork themselves.

✧ Hawthorn has a restorative effect on the heart, physically and energetically (cardiac trophorestorative). Hawthorn holds a powerful presence for grief (global and personal), calms the nervous system, and helps to connect with our own resiliency as the wounded heart re-opens. Their flowers and leaves hold presence for birth, death, and rebirth. The berries are rich in flavonoids.

✧ Hibiscus, studies have illuminated hibiscus’ ability to alleviate hypertension. A cheerful, sour, sweet, slightly bitter, and red mallow relative, brings joy & antioxidants into the body and heart (as it also regulates blood pressure, hypertension, and cholesterol levels).

✧ Cedar, not much of cedar needles were worked with in this blend. Though if you've ever been with cedar, you know how powerful and vital they express and offer themselves. They invite us to connect with our organ of perception, our spirit & heart, aligning heaven and earth, resolving the illusion of separateness.

✧ Yew Essence: Ancient tree that offers portals to know who "you" are, while also connecting your ancestors & other realms while staying rooted, grounded, and embodied.

✧ Nootka Rose Essence: re-awakens our love for life and engages us to take the initiative of the fruitful labor in life. Rose reminds us of how to embrace and embody our gifts and beauty without needing to compare ourselves.
