 FAQs

  • A tincture is a concentrated extract of the herb(s). Typically, mediums like alcohol, glycerin, honey, and vinegar are used. Each medium will affect the taste, and quality of alkaloids and minerals extracted. Tinctures are usually a go-to because they are preserved and potent in extraction, so they last longer than a water extract (tea).

When making our tinctures, plants are macerating (infusing) for at least a month. Therefore, it is a more potent extraction where single drops up to a dropperful are needed to experience the effects of the plant.

  • A great way to call-in slowness and build a ritual. Making an herbal infusion (tea) is especially helpful for delivering minerals and vitamins from plantitas to our bodies.

  • Flower essences are vibrational medicine that carries the energetic quality/signature of a particular flower, herb, tree, and fungi, and is combined with external influence and intention. Since these are diluted medicine and carry very few constituents (i.e. homeopathic dose), making it is safe for everyone to work with (babies, animals, and people with varying health challenges). Flower essences are made in water and preserved with a small amount of alcohol (though you can certainly use vinegar as a preservative).

Tinctures usually act on the physical body (i.e. supporting digestion, alleviating physical tension and discomfort, etc.) whereas essences work on subtle energy body via, psyche, attunement, dreams, balancing emotions and habits, trauma & grief, etc.) Therefore, tinctures and essences work wonders together.

Flower essences remind us that we can come back into balance and alignment. By working with nature’s essences, we are re-membering that we are nature too.

  • As mentioned in our about us section, all of the herbs we work with are either grown in our regenerative medicine garden, local farms that use organic or sustainable farming practices, and consciously wild-harvested from the nearby landscape in our PNW bioregion (i.e. chickweed, plantain, fallen cedar, elderflower, hawthorn berries, abundant weedy plants, etc.) Harvesting is a very intentional process, as we acknowledge to be visitors on the unceded lands of many indigenous people (past, present, future) and also acknowledge the sovereign nature of plant & fungal kin. Therefore, most herbal offerings are made with abundant plants that are considered weeds and/or grown with reverence, celebration, and honor.

*Sidenote, Jenny has studied permaculture (founded in the studies of indigenous farming practices around the world) and studies the land daily via relationship building, observation, and familial & ancestral guidance.
